Welcome back to DEMO DOWNLOAD, a bonus series where I share my in-progress music with my paying subscribers. This month’s edition features a collection of updates on songs that will eventually appear on the upcoming Lamniformes EP Nurse.
Right before I left New York, my buddy Sam Fallas-LoManto and I spent an afternoon at Fieldnotes Studio in Greenpoint recording drums and bass for Nurse with engineer and producer extraordinary Mike Tierney. In between takes we enjoyed Mike’s fancy coffee set up and chewed the cud about anime. We had a great time and we knocked seven songs out in a single session. Since that afternoon progress on these songs has slowed because a) I moved, b) I disrespected my external hard drive to death. I spent this last month’s worth of Tuesdays getting back at it.
Since Sam and I did not record to metronome, the first order of business was re-arranging my original midi programming to fit the fluid tempo of the live instruments. Below the paywall you’ll find four songs that combine the cold machinery of midi with the hot humanity of our live performances. Some of the midi will eventually be replaced with other live instruments. Some of the midi will remain. Since these early versions of the songs are still unmixed and unmastered you are in encouraged to turn up the volume in order to enjoy them.
