Welcome back to Playlist Postscript! In this series I revisit old playlists and offer my thoughts on the songs contained therein. This month we flashback to April 2019. As I noted in the playlist’s original description, it rained a lot that month. It rains a lot most Aprils in New York City, where I lived at the time. The weather likely contributed to the wistful and melancholic tone palpable in the songs I selected for the month’s playlist. Were there other factors, perhaps romantic ones, that may have played a part in this wist? I dare not say. In either case, I’ve marked the songs that hold up the best six years later with the coveted Lamniformes Shark Emoji of Approval (🦈) while the songs that will eventually appear in Drumming Upstream are marked with the Drum Emoji of Destiny (🥁).
