Playlist Postscript: The Best Songs of 2014 Revisited
How do my favorites hold up a decade later?
Our march through years past continues this week with the best songs of 2014. Wow, that was ten years ago! In 2014 I was working full-ish time at a music venue, getting steady musical theater gigs, playing with a a few different bands around Chicago, and writing about music a lot. Not only did I join the Unrecorded team in 2014, but by the end of the year I’d start getting my first pieces published at Invisible Oranges. Things were coming together, albeit in a messy, early 20s kind of way. Point being, this was the first year where I felt like my “best of” selections came with a certain degree of professional responsibility. What did I do with that burden of responsibility? How do my selections hold up now with a decade of hindsight? Find out below! The best tracks will receive the coveted Lamniformes Shark Emoji of Approval (🦈).
