Greetings from sunny Las Vegas, Nevada. I should have known that the combination of Thanksgiving travel and a subsequent trip to the west coast for a friend’s wedding would make it nearly impossible for me to deliver this newsletter on schedule. My apologies for not warning you. In either case, the letter is here and it contains tunes. This week we’re taking a brief detour from my trip through my old “Best Songs Of The Year” playlists to revisit the songs that I enjoyed listening to in December 2019. Think of it as a proto-Listening Diary. Life in December 2019 was pretty good! Things were going well at my job, I was playing rad show with Humeysha. The New York version of the Lamniformes live band was really starting to gel. I enjoyed living in my cozy little Sunset Park apartment with my best friend and his partner. “Uncut Gems” was the hottest movie in the country, and the Bernie Sanders campaign was looking great, as the old tweet goes. Well, things got worse soon enough.
For this trip back to the last month of the last OK year of my life (don’t get stressed, Mom I’m exaggerating for effect) I was joined by ~*My Girlfriend*~. We threw this playlist on as we drove back to Chicago from Michigan after a very chill Thanksgiving weekend. That means that in addition to the coveted Lamniformes Shark Emoji of Approval (🦈 ) ~*My Girlfriend*~ will also be be awarding her favorite songs with a Cherry Blossom Emoji of Excellence (🌸).
Playlist Postscript is exclusive to my paying subscribers. You can enjoy this series, and other illusive bonuses, for $5 a month or the astoundingly low price of $40 a year.
