Welcome to the first Playlist Postscript of 2025. After revisiting playlists from the end of the year last month, this month we loop back to the beginning of a specific year. For the next few months we’ll be finishing off my playlists from 2019. January 2019 was a good month. I went on tour for two weeks. I revisited Chicago for the first time since moving to New York and met the dog that I now live with for the first time too. I got back into progressive rock in a big way, which laid the foundations for my first suggestions about Progmatism at the end of 2019. I still like a lot of the music in this playlist to this day. I think you can tell that I was happy to no longer be writing about music professionally. I was getting back to being me. The songs that hold up the best six years later will received the coveted Lamniformes Shark Emoji of Excellence (🦈 ), while the rare songs that factor into future entries of Drumming Upstream will receive the Drum Emoji of Destiny (🥁).

Playlist Postscript is exclusive to my paying subscribers. You can read this series and other mysterious bonuses by joining for either $5 a month (the cost of one coffee) or the low, low price of $40 a year (the price of several coffees).
